Established in 2015 as part of the Journalism Department's BAP Project in the Faculty of Communication at Ondokuz Mayıs University, the News Center is a practical unit where faculty students conduct their research, beginning in the 2015-2016 Fall Semester. This unit aims to put into practice the theoretical knowledge learned in the course, such as news writing, news production, news editing, news photography, and web journalism. The Genç İfade newspaper, which evaluates student work within the unit, has been operating since April 2015. The Genç İfade newspaper's website, gencifade.omu.edu.tr, provides daily coverage of faculty events.
Genç İfade Newspaper and its website help students develop advanced journalism skills and understanding in both print and digital media, as well as gain industry experience. In addition to the professional and industry experience gained, students have also been recognized with national awards.
